About our soap...

As with many ventures, Rainflower soaps began from a personal interest and was further fuelled by a desire to create something 'natural'. The first soaps created were the Aromatherapy range, using the essential oils that I already had a deep understanding of. As the response to these was so encouraging, I continued researching into the benefits of adding other natural ingredients. Inspired by my own love of plants, other ranges quickly followed, and continue to grow.

I use a traditional method called 'cold process', whereby an exact amount of alkaline is added to a blend of oils. The alkaline heats and saponifies (turns to soap) the oils over a 48 hour period. After the two day incubation period, it is removed from the mould, cut, and left to harden and 'cure' for six weeks.

Rainflower soap is made purely from vegetable oils and all the naturally occurring Glycerine is retained. Glycerine is a natural humectant, attracting moisture from the air, to leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

The subtle colourings in my soaps are obtained by using herbs, flowers and roots. Decorations are naturally dried flowers, leaves and herbs.

All the ranges of Rainflower soap are Vegetarian, most, but not all, are Vegan. I source Palm oil from Columbian suppliers who are members of the RSPO (Roundtable for sustainable production of Palm oil)

I hope that you enjoy these soaps and get as much pleasure from using them as I do in making them.
